Third Party Inspection e-learning

Summary:

The Third Party Inspection e-learning training course has been produced for eligible company users as a benefit of membership. It can also be accessed via a purchase through the EEMUA shop. The course provides an introduction to EEMUA Publication 232.

Introduction:

This e-learning is positioned at the awareness/introductory level and is an optional precursor to working through EEMUA Publication 232 – Specifying, procuring and managing third party inspection services. The content is also relevant to users who draw on other EEMUA publications such as: EEMUA 231 The mechanical integrity of plant containing hazardous substances - a guide to periodic examination and testing; EEMUA 159 Above ground flat bottomed storage tanks - a guide to inspection, maintenance and repair; and EEMUA 183 Prevention of tank bottom leakage.

The course covers:

  • Types of inspection body
  • Third party inspection process
  • Policy
  • Organisation
  • Asset register
  • Risk assessment
  • Define the scope of examination
  • Scheduling
  • Examination of assets
  • Integrity assessment
  • Response to findings
  • Record keeping
  • Changes and modifications
  • Ongoing improvement
  • Feedback
  • Performance monitoring
  • Audit
  • Using a code of conduct

The module will benefit anyone with an interest in third party inspections and is especially relevant to chief engineers, engineers involved in the maintenance of in-house engineering standards, engineering consultants, engineering managers, graduate engineers, group technical authorities, plant operations managers, and process safety managers.

The principles covered in this e-learning module can be applied to third party inspections for many types of process plant. However, organisations who commission and provide third party inspections for processes involving hazardous substances and pressure equipment and systems (with an associated need to ensure primary containment) will find its detailed content particularly useful. The principles equally apply to organisations with second party inspection bodies and for defining internal 'rules of engagement' in place of contractual relationships. It may also be of interest to related organisations such as engineering contractors and regulatory agencies.

Either completing (but not passing) or passing this e-learning course has no bearing on entry into the EEMUA 231 Mechancial integrity classroom training course, but you may choose to take this as a natural progression.
