Biography:

Kjetil Bakli is a marine engineer educated at the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH). He spent the first ten years of his career in the offshore sector, working with structural and mechanical systems in demanding operating environments.

For the past 30 years, he has been with Yara International, including the last 15 years as Head of Yara’s User Inspectorate and plant inspection. He has been responsible for technical integrity management of pressure equipment and process installations, with particular focus on compliance with the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), in-service inspection regimes, and risk-based inspection (RBI).

He has led conformity assessment strategies, life assessment of pressure vessels and piping systems, and the management of degradation mechanisms across multiple production sites. In addition, he has acted as the company’s regulatory liaison with authorities and notified bodies on matters relating to pressure equipment and compliance.

He has been an active member of the European Committee of User Inspectors (ECUI) for 15 years.
