Presentation title: Integrity lessons gained from a critical refinery crude oil feed pipeline

Presentation abstract/summary: 

This presentation describes the discovery of extensive external corrosion on the main crude oil feed pipeline to a refinery, the investigation, inspection and repair program.  A pipeline integrity management system was developed and implementation and continuous improvement journey is ongoing.  The objective is to illustrate the lessons learnt across a variety of pipeline asset management themes.

Biography:

Harry says he a specialist in failure, fortunately these are usually other peoples or organisational failures rather than his own. He has experience of working in global engineering, maintenance and integrity roles in Upstream, Midstream and Downstream facilities and pipelines in Operating Companies including Santos, bp and Glencore. His career has been focussed on supporting leaders to make good asset management decisions based on a better understanding of integrity and process safety risk. In 2020 Harry established a consultancy, IM3R, Integrity Management Run, Repair Replace which supports various energy companies.  He also supports EEMUA with various integrity courses. He is a fellow of IMechE, and a member of SARS (Safety and Reliability Society) and the Energy Institute.
