European Approval for Materials (EAM) (Art. 1, 2.9 & Art. 11). The BAM procedure is intended for repeatedly used materials not covered by harmonised standards. EAMs can only be issued by NoBos specifically authorised for that task. Before issue, the NoBo must first provide Member States and the Commission with all relevant information for the material and then allow a three-month period (for consideration of comments) to elapse. The resulting BAM must then be sent to Member States and notified bodies, and to the Commission for publication in the Official Journal (OJ). The material now complies with the PED for use by any manufacturer.
