Hydrogen Production, Storage, and Distribution e-learning

Introduction

The Hydrogen Production, Storage and Distribution e-learning module is positioned at the Awareness level and provides a concise introduction to the safe design, operation and maintenance of hydrogen systems. It can be taken as a standalone awareness course or as preparatory learning before engaging with relevant EEMUA publications in greater detail or participating in related EEMUA mechanical training.

The course covers:

• Hydrogen production methods.

• Hydrogen storage both static and mobile.

• Hydrogen distribution including by pipelines.

• Hydrogen use in oil refining.

• Factors associated with high temperature hydrogen attack.

• Power and heat generation. 

• The safe use of hydrogen in industrial settings.

• Considerations for the design, operation and maintenance of hydrogen systems.

• Emerging hydrogen applications.

The content in the Hydrogen Production, Storage and Distribution e-learning module is aligned with:

• EEMUA 186 – A practitioner’s handbook for potentially explosive atmospheres;

• EEMUA 231 – The mechanical integrity of plant containing hazardous substances: A guide to periodic examination and testing; and

• EEMUA 240 – Factors to consider when managing high temperature hydrogen attack on petroleum and chemical facilities.

The module will benefit those involved in the design, operation or maintenance of hydrogen production, storage and distribution systems. It is aimed primarily at operatives and other personnel who require an introductory understanding of the engineering considerations associated with the safe use of hydrogen.

Either completing — but not passing — or passing this e-learning course has no bearing on entry into any other EEMUA training course, but you may choose to take one or more in the area of mechanical integrity as a natural progression.

This e-learning course is best viewed on a desktop computer using the latest version of Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome and with a reliable broadband internet connection. A mobile app version for EEMUA Corporate Members, providing both online and offline options for taking the course, is available for Android and iOS devices. Access details are provided by email upon registration for the course.
