EEMUA's new one day course is aimed at those responsible on a day-to-day basis for ensuring mechanical integrity of plant and equipment, primarily those where COMAH Regulations apply but also those outside the scope of COMAH where there are hazardous substances present.
It will also be of interest to related stakeholders, including operators who are required to be “intelligent customers”, inspection bodies (including ‘competent persons’) and providers of specialist services to the process.
The course is based on EEMUA Publication 231 (SAFed IMG1), which was developed and written by EEMUA and the Safety Assessment Federation (SAFed) in consultation with the British Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) Hazardous Installations Directorate.
EEMUA has worked with a respected consultancy to produce the course, which has three top level objectives:
Introduce EEMUA 231 as a tool to help:
- Manage the primary containment envelope effectively
- Safely manage ageing plant
Organisational arrangements to deliver integrity management:
- Ensuring integrity through periodic examination and testing
- Effective inspection and response to findings – competence at every stage
Provide guidance on how to be in line with:
- Legislative requirements
- Good practice
- HSE expectations for managing integrity
The inaugural course is running on 24 November 2016 in Birmingham, UK.
