A broad range of training and competency schemes
EEMUA’s Technical Committees bring together deep expertise and many years of combined experience in industrial engineering. Their work, and the good-practice, guidance publications it produces, are the basis for a broad range of training and competency schemes. EEMUA's publications are developed to fulfil a need for guidance in a particular area of engineering practice or as a result of regulatory expectations. EEMUA's publications help to define or clarify what is good practice and the detail of this is the main focus of each training course whether it is the learning materials, teaching, tutor support, testing, examination or certification.
Training is provided at three distinct and straightforward EEMUA competency levels that were agreed with member companies:
- Awareness - suitable for those with little knowledge or experience of a topic.
- Basic application - designed for those working day to day in a specific topical area.
- Practitioner - aimed at those with considerable knowledge, experience and skills that contribute to or make key decisions in their role.
Each training course is designed to give you the practical knowledge and hands-on experience needed to excel in your field. EEMUA’s training courses can also form part of your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and contribute to Professional Development Hours (PDHs). For further details, please check with your HR/Learning Department and relevant professional institution.
Courses are delivered through a mix of face-to-face, online and blended online learning. Various languages are used for teaching delivery and examination including Dutch, English, French and German. They can also be tailored to your specific needs such as your working time-zone and delivered in-house on-site. EEMUA's training and competency schemes cover these main areas:
- Mechanical Integrity - EEMUA 231 Mechanical Integrity Basics (MIB) and the Mechanical Integrity Practitioner Certificate (MIPC).
- Storage Tanks - EEMUA 159 TankBasics (STB), Tank Integrity Manager (TIM), TankInspector (TI) and TankAssessor (TA).
- Subsea Engineering - EEMUA 194 Subsea Engineering Basics (SEB).
- Leadership is addressed through the Process Safety Management e-learning and the Asset Integrity Leadership Certificate (AILC).
- Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Cyber Security (EICC) training is delivered through e-learning developed from a range of EEMUA publications. Please note, EEMUA recommends explosive atmospheres training from CompEx, which provides international core competency validation across several sectors, including offshore.
- EEMUA's e-learning is accessible free-of-charge to EEMUA Corporate Members and provided at a 50% discount to EEMUA Associates. Members and Associates also receive at least a 20% reduction on training course fees.
EEMUA hosts regular webinars that cover highly relevant engineering and process safety topics as well as soft skills. Previous webinars can viewed, after log-in to the EEMUA website, on the webinar recordings page.
EEMUA also supports other training schemes where appropriate, such as the PACT modular training in Process Automation, and the UK PA7 apprenticeship in process automation.
From January 2020, EEMUA introduced electronic certificates, please refer to our FAQ's or contact our team if you have queries regarding this.
